CBP Commissioner meets with Italian Customs Director, strengthens border cooperation

The Director of the Customs and Monopolies Agency of Italy (ADM), Roberto Alesse, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney S. Scott met today in Washington, D.C., within the framework of the longstanding cooperation between their respective Administrations.

During the talks, the Parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring the security of the international supply chain, combating illicit trafficking, and enforcing legitimate trade.

The Parties agreed to further strengthen operational cooperation and information exchange, with particular attention to risk analysis, supply chain security, countering synthetic drugs, and enhancing the professional capabilities of customs personnel.

The Parties also underscored the importance of close cooperation with economic operators and key e-commerce stakeholders, with a view to enhancing supply chain transparency and the effectiveness of risk-based controls.

The meeting took place in a cordial and mutually trusting atmosphere, confirming the excellent state of relations between ADM and CBP and their shared commitment to continuing cooperation on issues of strategic interest to both countries.
